Project SD: GP02A Physalis Phase 2

Hmm...

I've gotta apologize to anyone who's been reading this blog of mine as I haven't been updating for weeks!

I've been so busy with my wedding preparations and work that I haven't even had the time to get down to continue on this small little SD.

Luckily, over the past couple of days.. I'e managed to find quite a bit of spare time to get down on it.

Here's what I've done till date..

I cut out the slots so that the face to be pushed in. This is done because the head had a large seam line which I wanted to get rid of. More pics below to show the seam line across the whole head.

Here's more pics of the face that demonstrates how I can slide it in and out after removal of the seam lines across the head.

Here's a pic of a snap build without any painting done. damn... It looks so plain.

Right, now I'm kind of torn in thinking of how to paint this kit.... Any of you readers have any ideas?

Would you think a full metallic scheme would look cool on this? or a normal Universal century gundam colour of Red, Blue, White suit it better?
Please gimme comments if you have any comments :D

That's all for today.. Couldn't get much done.. I foresee that this is going to be slow.
Thanks for looking :) Be back soon!

Project SD: GP02A Physalis

I've pretty much completed the body of my blue frame, but I still haven't applied the water slide decals because of my lack of experience in applying them.

So for now, I decided to put my blue frame on hold and start on the GP02A SD gundam. This is a darn cute gundam I must say :D

Will post more soon, stay tuned. :)

Blue frame complete!

Over the past 2 weeks..... I've managed to complete my blue frame up and do the panel lining at last... I haven't the time to do the decal-ling though.
I've gotta say... the articulation is magnificent.. I'm giving my thumbs up to the new Master grades. However.. I still cannot bring myself to like the newer Seeds and Astrays(besides red frame)... especially the 00 Raiser gundams.

Well, Enough talk... here's some badly taken pics.... sigh. My lighting's a disaster.

And if anyone has noticed, the right knee is missing. Why, you may ask?
Well, I've accidentally left my thumbprint on the paintjob after I clear coated it for panel lining. And I'm too lazy to paint that part up now. :p

Here's some pics up after posing on a stand. I feel that it looks bad-ass with the backpack rather than transforming it as a gigantic sword somehow.
haha.

WIP: Phase 4

Hmmm.... I've finally finished airbrushing and building up the body of the Blue Frame...

Now what's left is the melee weapons which will be further built, airbushed and assembled.. over the course of 2 days i presume.

I've tried airbrushing all the metal gray parts on the kits with black gun metal and I have to say, it really doesn't seem any different unless you look at it with a side by side comparison.

Left: Painted, Right: Unpainted
The left knife looks much sleeker and shinier after painting isn't it. On the right, it looks so plastic-ky with ugly mold lines which can be easily seen when unpainted.

Anyway, Here's showcasing what has been completed.
Note: No panel lining has been done at all.

Well, Just a short post today.. will do more and most prob update in the next few days.

Thanks for viewing... Please leave comments if possible :)

W.I.P : Phase 3 of Blue Frame and another new kit

Finally, over the weekend did I manage to take some time out to continue on the works of my blue frame.

Finally got the orange parts airbrushed at all... I had to keep mixing the Gaia Notes Orange Yellow with Gaia Notes Bright red to achieve a nice dark shade of orange as compared to the original colour.

I've completed painting the head + panel lining.. but its still kind of messy, will need to clean it up before further detailing.

Close up shots of the head. I had to hand paint in some details as well.

Here's what has been done till date.

Will continue to try to finish it by tomorrow or day after latest! :D

Okay... Here's another Works in progress. This one is not done by me... but rather... my wife! This is the 1/144 sized Char Aznable's Zaku II First Grade edition. Surprisingly, I have never seen this kit of sale outside...

This kit's box was really small and it comes really cheap as well. Look at the price! On top of that I had a futher 20% discount which dropped the price to $5.20

I've gotten her quite a number of kits till date... MG and HGUC Kampfer, Sinanju, MG and HGUC Unicorn... etc, but she thought this was really cute addtion as well... since she already has the same SD ZAKU II and the Gashapon..

Well, opening up the box, You can really see why its called FG(First Grade) and that explains the price as well. It's all MONO COLORED!

However, its perfect for her since she wants to airbrush it with a customized color off her own.
Here's a look at the manual.

Here's showing her in action :D

Here's showing her color scheme!
Silver for the tubings on the zaku II...

and pink for the body instead of original reddish shade.

Well, running 2 kits can be very time consuming since I can't get my blue frame done when she's attempting her Zaku.. However, I was really glad to see her enjoying building and painting gundams as much as I do. :D

Till the next post... Adios man..
Thanks for viewing!

models that I've completed so far

One whole week has passed and DAMN!! I haven't done anything with the blue frame.... so no updates till I start again, which should be darn soon.

Anyway, here's a quick post..
I've done gundam models way back when I was still in secondary school... that was about 1993. It was introduced by my classmates back then and I got hooked onto it, but having no money and knowledge back then... I just simply built my first kit up in a mere 30 minutes.

Here's a pic of my very first gundam model.

And if you noticed in the pictures of my previous post, I just bought one again 2 days back. Because the one I've made previously is gone.. most probably thrown away.
All my built-up models back in the heyday are now all gone as well. I have seriously no recollection of where it disappeared to!

So, for now, this post showcases what I have completed just a couple of months ago prior to the existence of this blog.

First up: My hand painted Sword impulse gundam from Gundam Seed Destiny. This model is fully hand painted by both me and my wife painstakingly.

Next up is my second 1/144 model from the same series. The Force Impulse gundam.
This is my very first fully air-brushed model.

Close up of Force Impulse. Please pardon my wrongly coloured shield and rather terrible paint job. :)

Next one, is a SD ZAku of the same model. This is totally unpainted, but built up out of box and panel lined with a Gundam marker. then next is a cute lil Gashapon Zaku II Char Aznable Ver.
This one is not a model of course, but I decided to include it in because its so cute!

The last one is the newly launched SD Unicorn Gundam. My wife loved this when she saw it and was built up the very moment it was brought home. Another model that was just snapped built out of box without any painting.

I know the pics a rather little.. but I didn't take much. Well, till the next post. Adios :D

W.I.P of MG Blue Frame: Phase 2

Okay..... I haven't had the time to be updating this recently due to my busy workload and other family commitments, but I managed to get some work going for the blue frame thankfully. Or else it's just gonna be a S.W.I.P (Slow works in progress)

Well, here's some of the updates that I've done up for now. I've more or less completed the hands and legs.

Well, from the pic above, it doesn't look anything different from it being snapped built right out of the box. For this kit, I didn't even use primer prior to airbrushing. All I did was to cut out the parts and spray the colour onto it.

And I have to say, I love my models to be anime and "exact colour specified" accurate. I'm not one of those who likes to experiment with lots of different colours and modifications trying to make the whole thing look cooler than it originally was. So for this model kit, I try to find the closest colour possible and just get the painting job done.
Here's some close up pics of the colour painted on it... I really wanted the blue frame to be as glossy as my skills would have it.

I've positioned the arms and legs against the lights to showcase the glossiness of the paints :D

Next up are the fingers! I don't have a picture of it in its original unpainted state, but its a solid blue colour. So from the manual, it has whites and blues on its fingers, so I got it airbrushed. and I used something to aid me in masking of the very very awkward placements. Here's how it looks like when airbrushed.

Hmm??? Its peeling off!?

Why is it green!!??

\p.s pardon the odd blotches. It has to be re-worked again.

Well, the thing I've used to aid me is..... LIQUID MASK!! Its a really incredible tool for modeler's who mask and airbrush a lot.

I haven't got around to use it intensively... but I can foresee that it'll be used alot more soon for other models. :D
Thats it for the blue frame for now... Will post more about it soon as I get it up.

P.S. Realized that I haven't posted the tools that I use for gundam modeling. :p.

Now, on the other random stuffs...

About a week back , I mentioned that I've got many backlogs undone right? Well.. here's a couple of pictures showcasing all I have currently.

Well, for gundam lovers, its pretty much shows that I am a Universal Century kind of guy, except for the Astrays which is an exception. :p The katana wielding Astray red frame realy got me hooked the moment I laid eyes on him.... and the blue frame was just an accompaniment... but the blue frame looks cool too of course. :)

Well, here's another bunch of kits that I just obtained yesterday. Yes... only yesterday. 13th of April. Yes I know I'm nuts alright. hahahaha.

And yes I'm so happy that I've gotten all 3 Mobile Armour's of the 0083 Stardust Memory Anime! They are the Val Walo, Neue Ziel, and Dendrobium Orchis! I love universal century gundams... 0083 stardust memory especially.

If anyone was wondering why I have so many GP02s and Sentinel Gundams... its because of the Bad-ass and kick-ass looks. lol

Well, Gonna sign off for now. more to come next time...
